Could you tell us a little about yourself?
My full name is Annette Pretiba Singh. I’m 16 (going on 17 pretty soon), doing my A-Levels in Brickfields Asia College while waiting for my SPM results. I’m a true-blue KL girl: born, bred, and schooled in KL… whatnot? I’m the only child (and don’t ever think my parents are pampering me, because they’re not!). :) From a young age, I’ve been having this passion for music – especially the drums – despite the fact that people around me were oblivious to it, even my parents and relatives. Truly, the only person to have heard me bang on my pillows when I was younger, is Jesus.
Which church do you attend? And in what area are you serving, if any?
I used to attend church at St. Francis Xavier Petaling Jaya (I got confirmed there); but these days I serve in the Music Ministry (Sunset Band) in Church of the Assumption, Petaling Jaya. Not as a key drummer, though!
How did you find out about Drummerforchrist.com?
It so happened that I knew a few people from Rock City School of Music in KL and they were featuring the 50 Hours event everywhere on their notice boards. So I logged on the net to see the site of the sponsors themselves – Drummerforchrist.com – and I’ve been on and off the site quite frequently.
How long have you been playing drums?
Not long really, hehe…. ^^ I only began in May 2007 but I never touched the sticks until January 2008! So let’s say I’ve just begun.
What do you practice in drums?
Pretty much everything I listen to, although I’m not fit enough for drum solos yet.
How do you improve yourself besides practicing?
Err……. air drumming? Oh, and recently, I’ve been praying for God’s guidance (yeah, honestly, I need Him).
How do you keep yourself spiritually fit?
I say my prayers every night… and almost every morning. I also attend Wednesday and Sunset masses…
Is there any particular drum and cymbal brand you play with?
Nah… anything goes. At the moment I’m using Roland V-Drums (not sure about the full specs though) – it’s the drum set in church.
Please explain a little about your drum kit and cymbals (if any).
Ermm……
What advice would you give to young drummers who is serving or intend to serve in the worship department?
I’d say, give it your all, leave everything to God… and always remember to praise Him no matter what happens. As for me, I’m trying… and I’m still in the beta stage. We’re all human lah!
What do you like to do besides drums?
I like composing songs, remixing (at YourSpins.com), blogging, playing the piano, listening to music. Oh, and not to forget, SLEEPING!
How do you see yourself in your drumming in 10 years? What do you hope to achieve? What is your goal?
Ten years? Hm… I truly hope to play well – as in, really well. Thing is, I once made a promise to Jesus that if I play the drums well, I’d dedicate it to Him, at least once. I hope to keep that promise soon, and continue doing it for Him. |
